About Us

PhonePe is India's largest digital payments platform, founded in December 2015 by Sameer Nigam, Rahul Chari, and Burzin Engineer. The company offers a wide range of financial services and consumer tech products through its mobile app. It has grown rapidly since its launch in August 2016, reaching over 500 million registered users and digitizing 36 million offline merchants across nearly all of India's postal codes. Headquartered in Bengaluru, PhonePe employs around 1,000 people and supports over 11 languages. The platform provides core UPI payments, bill payments, and various financial services, including insurance and investments. It also features tools for shopping and e-commerce, as well as solutions for merchants, such as payment acceptance and advertising. PhonePe has established itself as a leader in the Bharat Bill Pay System, holding over 45% market share, and has received recognition as the Most Trusted Brand for Digital Payments in 2023.
