Based out of Connecticut in the USA, Plootus has developed an easy to use & integrated financial planning tool for retirement, focused especially on the 401(k) market which according to Koski research is the only or largest source for retirement planning for 60% of the people. The tool integrates all expenses, income, and investments of an individual. With minimal inputs, it suggests investment options based on individual risk profiles and estimated retirement needs.

We are looking for a passionate Engineering Intern who wants to learn by doing — working directly with our founding team to enhance our web and mobile applications and contribute to meaningful product development in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Update and maintain the Plootus mobile app (iOS and Android) and website (built with Next.js and React).
• Leverage Next.js features (routing, SSR/SSG, API routes) to improve web performance and SEO.
• Integrate and test REST APIs to connect front-end and back-end services.
• Use GitLab for version control and collaborate on branching, merging, and pull requests.
• Deploy updates and enhancements to the AWS cloud environment.
• Debug issues, test features, and document fixes.
• Work with the Node.js backend to understand and modify database interactions as needed.
• Collaborate on improving SEO for the Plootus website, including optimizing page structure, metadata, and performance to enhance search visibility.
• Support App Store Optimization (ASO) efforts to improve the Plootus app’s ranking and visibility on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store (keywords, descriptions, ratings, and performance).

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong mobile app development experience for both iOS and Android (React Native preferred, or native Swift/Kotlin with cross-platform knowledge).
• Proficiency in Next.js and React for front-end web development.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and JSON data structures.
• Experience using GitLab (or similar, e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket) for version control.
• Basic understanding of Node.js and databases (MongoDB or SQL).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Passion for learning fintech applications and scalable SaaS technologies.
• Basic understanding of SEO principles (on-page SEO, keywords, meta tags, site performance).
• Basic understanding of ASO principles, including keyword optimization, metadata, and user acquisition strategies.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience deploying to AWS, GCP, or other cloud environments.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Interest in finance, personal budgeting, or investment platforms.
• Experience with SEO tools (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, etc.).
• Understanding of technical SEO and web performance optimization.
• Advanced ASO experience – improving app rankings and downloads using tools like App Store Connect, Google Play Console, Sensor Tower, or App Annie.
• Understanding of conversion optimization (CTR, installs, ratings/reviews) for mobile apps.
