Job Overview

We are hiring an experienced Freelance Senior Java Backend Developer for a contract opportunity with a global payments and switching network project focused on encryption, decryption, and highly secure onboarding systems for banks and card issuers.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Java/SpringBoot backend development, event-driven architecture, Kafka-based systems, and microservices APIs, along with experience working in secure, high-availability enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices and APIs using Java and SpringBoot
• Build and support event-driven applications using Kafka, NATS, and gRPC
• Work on secure encryption/decryption platform components for payment switching systems
• Develop scalable and high-performance APIs integrated with PostgreSQL databases
• Troubleshoot production issues and proactively drive resolutions independently
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile/Scrum environments
• Participate actively in stand-ups, technical discussions, and code reviews
• Support CI/CD implementation and deployment activities using Jenkins and Git-based workflows
• Ensure application reliability, security, and performance within strict SLA environments

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in backend development with Java and SpringBoot
• Strong experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Experience with NATS and gRPC communication frameworks
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and REST APIs
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins
• Strong understanding of HTTP protocol and client-server architecture
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems and production environments
• Knowledge of BDD frameworks is an added advantage
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with a proactive and ownership-driven mindset
