Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our product-based company in the Healthcare domain. The ideal candidate will have 9+ years of experience in data engineering, data modeling, governance, and platform administration. This role involves building and maintaining scalable data models using Snowflake, managing data pipelines, optimizing performance, and ensuring data quality and compliance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design robust data solutions that drive actionable insights and improve healthcare outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and maintain scalable data models using Snowflake.
- Administer Snowflake environments, monitor system health, and ensure performance optimization.
- Manage and optimize Snowflake virtual warehouses for cost-efficiency and scalability.
- Promote self-service and decentralized data ownership across teams.
- Enforce data governance policies to maintain standardization, data quality, and compliance.
- Provide technical assistance and cross-training to team members.
- Participate in design sessions and prepare technical design documentation and diagrams.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Mentor engineers to support team growth and professional development.
- Collaborate with senior engineers in the Registry Architecture Review Board.
- Ensure delivery quality and provide support for production services.
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Software Developer, or Administrator with focus on data modeling, governance, and platform administration.
- Expertise in Snowflake or similar MPP databases.
- Strong SQL programming and database design skills.
- Experience with multiple database technologies – MSSQL, PostgreSQL, OLAP, OLTP.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools and data transformation methodologies.
- Experience with database monitoring, stored procedures, and schema design.
- Practical understanding of data governance principles and data quality standards.
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
- Proficiency with source control systems such as Git and Gitflow.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with technical design documentation and cross-team collaboration.
- Exposure to Agentic AI (Claude, GPT, etc.) for data analysis and automation.
Good to Have
- Experience with test automation and data validation frameworks.
- Familiarity with Generative AI and Spec-Driven Development.
- Experience with Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or Azure Service Bus for data streaming.
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and modern DevOps tools.
- Ability to work independently and within Agile teams.
- Experience with Azure cloud services and data pipeline management.
- Exposure to Master Data Management (MDM).
- Proficiency in Python for data transformation and pipeline automation.
- Understanding of data mesh principles and decentralized data architecture.
- Strong prioritization, multitasking, and analytical abilities.
