Role Description


This is a full-time role for a Sr. Engineer / Lead Engineer / Asst. Manager - Design, located in Ambattur. The role involves designing and developing pneumatic valves and control systems, preparing and reviewing technical drawings, conducting product testing and validation, collaborating with cross-functional teams for project execution, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The engineer will also be responsible for problem-solving and providing technical support to the production and sales teams.


Responsibilities

  • Manage design and engineering activities for New Product Development (NPD) projects from concept generation through market release.
  • Act as an experienced product design engineer from the transportation market, with hands-on experience in designing and developing pneumatic valves and systems for trucks and trailers.
  • Design and develop pneumatic valves, solenoid valves, regulators, actuators, and related pneumatic components and subsystems in accordance with core engineering principles and customer specifications.
  • Conceptualize new product designs and optimize existing products to improve performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Perform product cost estimation and support cost-reduction initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead and support prototyping activities, design verification, and product validation through laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and other supporting functions to ensure smooth and timely project execution.
  • Provide technical support to sales, production, and quality teams, including participation in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of pneumatic systems and components to resolve technical issues and support knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality enhancement, efficiency improvement, and cost reduction.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and maintain strong inter-departmental working relationships.
  • Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, and logical problem-solving skills while working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Execute all responsibilities in a professional, ethical, and consistent manner, in full compliance with ROSS guidelines and policies.

Technical Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of products for trucks and trailer pneumatics valves & systems, including solenoid valves, Regulators, actuators, and other pneumatic products.
  • Create, maintain, and control complete design documentation, including 3D CAD models, 2D manufacturing drawings, design calculations, and all documentation required for the stage-gate process.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, DFMEA, and other design practices.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stake holders A focus on new technology development and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to create and maintain good inter-departmental relationship.
  • Critical and logical thinking for troubleshooting and providing effective solutions.
  • Leadership Skills & Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Qualification: BE. Mechanical Engineering / B. Tech - Mechanical.

Experience preferred : 4 - 10 years.
