What We're Looking For (Skills & Experience) :
Technical Proficiency :
- Deep understanding of Ruby's OOPS concepts.
- Proven experience supporting and coding RESTful APIs (including FHIR and HL7 standards).
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and MVC architecture.
- Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), query optimization, and backend engineering.
- Hands-on experience with libraries such as RSpec, Resque, Sidekiq, and Redis.
- Adequate experience integrating and maintaining a payment gateway.
- Proficient with code versioning tools like Git/BitBucket.
- Experience with AWS/CloudFront infrastructure is a plus.
- Experience with front-end technologies like JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern frameworks (React/Vue) is a plus.
- AI-Forward Mindset: A genuine passion for AI and its application in software development. Experience or keen interest in using AI code assistants, exploring AI-driven testing, or integrating ML models is a huge plus.
- Leadership: Strong communication and project management skills with a natural ability to mentor others and lead technical discussions.

What You'll Be Doing :
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, robust Ruby on Rails applications in regulated healthcare settings.
- Lead and mentor both junior and mid-level developers, championing continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Take ownership of technical design and new feature implementation, always pushing for better code quality, performance, and innovation.
- Leverage AI-powered tools and methodologies to improve productivity, code assurance, and application intelligence.
- Resolve performance bottlenecks, complex defects, and systemic issues with diligence and persistence.
- Influence high-level architecture and help shape our long-term technical vision.
- Integrate backend data storage (PostgreSQL, MySQL, key-value stores) for reliable and secure healthcare data flows.
- Apply and elevate standards for code organization, automation, and quality.
- Collaborate deeply across product, QA, SRE, and front-end teams working on multi-layered infrastructures.
- Rapidly adapt and contribute to regulated, compliance-driven projects in healthcare and learn UK-specific best practices.
